Penny Koff is the Director of Information Governance and Privacy of the Health Information Department for Cedars Sinai Medical Center. She is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic, and employee related activities for information capture, review, retention and management, as well as ensuring health information privacy regulation compliance across the multi-facility integrated health care system.
The Information Governance is made up of Privacy, Release of Information, Document Imaging, Record Completion, Records Management, Transcription, Data Integrity, Tumor Registry, and Birth Records. Penny was instrumental in the design, creation, and execution of the initiative to develop health information staff with the goal of bringing the tumor registry in-house to eliminate outsourcing this section.
Penny has over 25 years of experience in the health care industry. Prior to Cedars Sinai, Penny was the Chief, Medical Administrative Services for Cal-Vet Veterans Homes. She provided leadership in various sections of the Administrative Services area for a multi-facility organization and participated in the procurement of an enterprise-wide information system.
Penny earned her Master of Health Administration and Management degree from Colorado State University, and Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from University of Cincinnati. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator and is certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security.
Penny enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.
