Dr. Rising (MD MSHP) is Founding Director of the Jefferson Center for Connected Care and Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the College of Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Her mission is to transform the patient voice into evidence-based interventions that are designed to address unmet needs that impact health outcomes of vulnerable individuals and communities. She completed medical school at the University of California San Francisco, emergency medicine residency training at Boston Medical Center, and received a Masters of Science in Health Policy Research at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Rising has led grants from numerous foundations, the NIH, PCORI, and AHRQ. Her current research portfolio includes addressing patient uncertainty related to seeking care, promoting vaccine confidence among vulnerable populations, and developing novel approaches to reduce the impact of social determinants of health on patient outcomes, with a specific focus on disparities in telehealth use.
